Mauritius and Rodrigues are at risk of recurrent water stress due to socio-economic development and the effects of climate change.

The creation of two water observatories aims at improving the knowledge on the resource and the awareness of the concerned actors.

Description of Mauritius and Rodrigues

In Mauritius, 40% of the drinking water distribution network is obsolete, resulting in a technical loss of 50%. In order to support the government's mobilization to solve this problem, a definition of the use of water resources for purposes other than drinking water must be made in order to develop and improve the country's water security. In Rodrigues, water management is carried out by the Rodrigues Regional Assembly (RRA), which has set the goal of providing water to all households in Rodrigues
